A luminaire, ready for Revit Architectural illustration of a suspended cylindrical luminaire. An amber wire diagram below the opening represents its photometric distribution. Small source and connector markers show their positions. The diagram has illustrative scale and does not predict illuminated distance.

Your CAD model.
A new life in Revit.

Keep your design. Export a prepared SAT solid, pair it with IES photometry, and Generate. No BIMMER add-in is needed in your CAD software.

ExportSolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion, Rhino and Creo export SAT directly. For CATIA, follow the documented STEP → SAT route. Each guide explains the required SAT 7.0 / 4.0 settings.

UploadBIMMER accepts SAT + IES only. Native CAD, STEP and binary SAB need export first.

More than a change of file format

A lighting family.
With the details that matter.

Your housing, light source and real photometry — together in one ready-to-place family.

Geometry checked

Size and components verified. Separate parts where supported; merged fallbacks flagged.

Source & aim checked

The light source placed and aimed from your emitting body, with any warnings kept visible.

A little preparation goes a long way

Five simple rules.
A better starting file.

Keep the design you already have. Simplify what Revit doesn't need, then export it with the right settings.

Find your CAD export guide
Export checklistACIS 7.0 / 4.0
Text .satSolidmm
  1. Export ACIS 7.0 or 4.0

Choose Solid output and mm units. Newer ACIS versions cannot be imported by Revit.

SolidWorks: Tools → Options → Export → ACIS.
  2. Put the light body first

Put the emitting body at the top of the model tree, or name it LED or light. BIMMER uses it to position the IES source.

  3. Keep the model simple

Keep the housing, light source and mounting parts. Remove unnecessary screws, springs, wiring and internal detail.

  4. Keep bodies separate

Leave “write multi body part into a single ACIS body” unticked to preserve separate parts where Revit supports them.

  5. Large model? Save as a part

Save a large or complex assembly as a part with separate bodies, then export SAT.

SolidWorks: Save As → Part → All components.

SolidWorks export settings and model-tree example

Export settings. ACIS 7.0 or 4.0, Solid, millimetres; keep the single-body box unticked.
Model structure. Light body first, a compact model and separate solid bodies.
